I have had quite a few people ask me “What do you do in the Kick-Ass Chicks class?” Here is a short video of a Cardio-Karate class we shot during the year to give you an idea on some of the drills we do.
Warm Up - Warming the muscles so we limit the chances of cramps and strains during our session.
Knees & Front Kicks – Practising the correct hip movement on the spot, to the count, with a partner on the strike shields, with a partner moving forward across the dojo, switching legs for coordination moving forward and backward.
Front Fist & Reverse Punch – Learning how to correctly form a fist (its different in karate to boxing as we strike with a bare hand rather than the cushion of a boxing glove), sets of punches from the hip, sets of punches from our guarding position, quick punches on strike shields, sets of punches moving around, moving that front foot in and out into a deep low stance for reverse punch.
Circuit – A circuit practising the above techniques – 30 seconds on each side of the body.
Warm Down – Warming the muscles down so we limit the chances of cramps and strains afterwards.
We have many different techniques, drills, exercises, etc to practise, and all are focused on getting your body fighting fit!
