About Us

Meet our Instructors

International Chief Instructor Mitani Kazuya

Kazuya Mitani first started karate while in university in Chiba, Japan in 1952. Back then he learned Shotokai at the university but joined Kinjo Hiroshi (9th Dan and probably the most knowledgeable karate master) and his organisation Kenshukai as a 3rd Dan. Kinjo Sensei taught Mitani Sensei the original Shuri-Te Karate introduced into the Okinawan school systems. Mitani Sensei then went on to produce many Japanese Kumite and Kata champions using the techniques and principle found Shuri-Te Karate. Mitani Sensei continues to teach Karate to students in his dojo in Chiba, and Seitokukai has won the All Japan Junior Tournaments for the last 10 years. No mean feat when there re over 300 teams competing each year!
