The AKA was represented by just three competitors- Grace Kruger (female cadets 14/15 years), Khoa Nguyen and Hugo Kawamata (male juniors 16/17 years) with all competing in both Kata and Kumite.  Khoa and Hugo were also able to compete in the Adult Male Open Kata Championship and both did well gaining valuable experience.  Unfortunately we came home without a medal but were oh so close to a couple of Bronze Medals.  Still we are more than holding our own and need to be patient and work harder all the time knowing the rewards will come.

Myself and Cheyne went along as coaches and Peter Bateman gave up four days of his life to take part in the judging; he did a mighty fine job!  AKA Instructors will now need to gain both coaching and judging qualifications to ensure that our competitors obtain the best training and advice we can give.  We are a long way into the learning curve at present and quietly confident that medal opportunities will be taken in the future.  All three presented personal best performances over the three day period and are the better for it.
