Despite our best preparation yet, medals were hard to come by in Hobart at the AKF 2013 National Championships.  Kiarra Sawynok gained a Bronze Medal in the Female Children’s Kata and our Boys Kata Team gained a Bronze each.  Both Cheyne and I were impressed with the performance of our 6 athletes.  In kata and kumite, all tried their hearts out and left no gas in the tank.  The situation is such that Victoria won with 37 Gold Medals, NSW second with 26, Queensland third with 12, Western Australia 7, Tasmania 4 and South Australia 1. There is a large gap between Victoria and Queensland and indeed between Victoria and the rest of the field.  The AKA has made up ground in preparation and performance and will continue to close the gap.  Our preparation for next year begins next week 🙂
