On Wednesday 15th of April, the AKA held the first AKA Cardio-Karate class with great success! The feedback from the 60 minute intensive workout has been extremely positive, with students saying they enjoyed the well-rounded exercise routine coupled with karate techniques.

The AKA Cardio-Karate classes target areas of the body that other workouts don’t, and because of the experience in karate, the combat techniques really work. There are plenty of boxercise and Tae-bo classes out there, but very few teach correct techniques like the AKA Cardio-Karate classes do.
Here is what we did in the previous AKA Cardio-Karate class –
  • 5 mins warm-up practising techniques to be used in the class
  • 5 mins of stretching to warm muscles
  • 5 mins of solo punching – left straight, right straight, left, right straight
  • 10 mins of punching bags with partner – alternating between 1, 2, and 3 punches
  • 1 minute drink break
  • 5 mins of solo knees and front kicks
  • 10 minutes of kneeing and kicking bags with a partner – various exercises using partner
  • 1 minutes drink break
  • 10 minute circuit work – 2 laps of 5 stations – push-ups, sit-ups, mountain climbers, core-body holds, jump ropes
  • 5 minutes cool-down and stretching
As you can see there is plenty of upper body, lower body, and core strength exercises to get you in the best shape of your life!
If you or a friend would like to join the AKA Cardio-Karate class, please let me know ASAP as there will be limited classes.
See you all this week at training!
